Um die Wertschöpfungspotzenziale der anfallenden Produktionsdaten umfassend nutzen zu können und einen weiteren Schritt in Richtung Industrie 4.0 zu machen, beteiligt sich die Saarstahl AG am vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) geförderten Forschungsprojekt „iPRODICT“ (Intelligent Process Prediction based on Big Data Analytics) im Saarland. Ziel von iPRODICT ist es, das von der Saarstahl AG zur Produktionsüberwachung eingesetzte Sensornetzwerk mit der betriebswirtschaftlichen Ebene zu verbinden.

Einer der weltweit größten Edelstahl-Lieferanten – Tisco (Taiyuan Iron & Steel Co. Ltd.) – hat ABP Induction ausgewählt, um in ihrem Stahlwerk in Taiyuan, China, Hochleistungs-Induktionsöfen zu installieren. Inzwischen ist die zweite Phase des Projekts abgeschlossen und alle Öfen sind in Betrieb. Die gelieferten Induktionsofenanlagen repräsentieren mit einer Leistung von 42 MW die derzeit stärksten Mittelfrequenz-Induktionsöfen der Welt.

After a test phase lasting several months, the Trimet plant in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne put a vertical continuous caster into full operation on 10th December 2014. With an annual production capacity of around 60,000 t of rolling ingots, the systemrepresents a strategic addition to the product portfolio of the facility in the French Alps. Around 145,000 t of primary aluminium are produced here annually.

As of 1st January 2015, Pierre Vareille has been appointed to the position of Chairman of the European Aluminium Association (EAA) for a two-year term, replacing Roeland Baan of Aleris. Mr Vareille has been Chief Executive Officer of Constellium since March 2012.
