Graphite Materials is a manufacturing company for graphite components and a system supplier for high-temperature applications, one area of specialisation is servicing heating chambers for vacuum and inert-gas furnaces.

The services performed depend on customer requirements and can involve an extensive parts service with graphite, CFC and insulation components, in-house component development and the complete overhaul of chambers. The company Graphite Materials was founded in 2000 in Zirndorf near Nuremberg by Dr. Rolf Terjung (D.Eng.) with the motto, “from the idea to the finished component”.

Servicing the heating chambers involves dismantling and cleaning them in a fully equipped workshop and replacing defective parts. Important components, such as the furnace insulation and heating system, are over-hauled and, if necessary, optimised.

In addition to servicing heating chambers, engineering services are becoming an increasingly important area. For example, improving energy efficiency in view of higher energy prices plays a significant role and involves a thermal simulation based on the finite-elements method (FEM).

Other areas of work involve the independent development and manufacture of components for gas-flow control systems, such as fan wheels and gas-flow plates, or CFC or hybrid charging devices, as well as their further development in order to meet increasing productivity and quality requirements.

ResponsibleSteel and LESS aisbl Urge Robust, Scrap-Conscious Approach to Effective European Steel Decarbonisation

ResponsibleSteel and the Low Emission Steel Standard (LESS aisbl) jointly released a new policy briefing, ‘The Steel Decarbonisation Scale’, urging European policymakers to adopt a more robust and realistic approach to steel decarbonisation – one that recognises the physical limits of scrap supply and incentivises genuine emissions reductions across all steel production routes.

Radial Forging Technology from SMS group: Precision Forging for Aerospace Excellence

SMS group’s SMX radial forging technology features a new compact hydraulic drive system with dual pumps, integrated flywheel, and frequency inverter that reduces hydraulic room space by 50% and energy consumption by 30% while providing precise control essential for aerospace materials like titanium and Inconel. The company offers complete automated forging lines from a single source, including open-die presses, radial forging machines, and integrated production control systems that enable “operator-free forging” with enhanced precision and efficiency for aerospace applications.
