At its meeting, the Supervisory Board of Salzgitter AG appointed Mrs. Birgit Potrafki (52) as the new member of the Management Board. She will become a member of the Management Board on February 1, 2024 and will assume the role of CFO on April 1, 2024. She will then succeed Burkhard Becker (63), who, as agreed, will leave the company on March 31, 2024 and retire. The seamless transition is secured by the parallel service time.
Ms. Birgit Potrafki has held managerial positions in the Bosch Group for many years. Among other things, she was responsible for the windshield wiper business worldwide and was a member of the Executive Board of the Electrical Drives Division. Since 2021 she has been Executive Vice President Finance and Administration at Robert Bosch GmbH, Division Cross Domain Computing Solutions, and a member of the divisional board. Ms. Potrafki studied economics and graduated in 1997 with a degree in economics from the Leibniz University in Hanover.
“With Ms. Potrafki we have been able to gain a proven leader. She is coming to the Salzgitter Group at a time determined by the new focus on the circular economy and the transformation of industry towards low-CO2 production processes. We are convinced that she will make a significant contribution to successfully aligning the Salzgitter Group for the future,” said Heinz-Gerhard Wente, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, on the new appointment.
Heinz-Gerhard Wente also thanked Burkhard Becker: “Burkhard Becker has worked for Salzgitter AG since 2010. During this time, he successfully managed important corporate divisions and rendered outstanding services as CFO. Mr. Becker will fully contribute his knowledge and experience in the further implementation of the transformation in the coming months.”
