Nippon Steel receives AMPP Fellow Honor Award

Nippon Steel Corporation is pleased to announce that Hisashi Amaya of the Tubular Products Technology Div., Pipe & Tube Unit, of Nippon Steel Corporation has been awarded the “2024 AMPP Fellow Honor Award” by the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) in the USA.

The AMPP is an association for material corrosion/protection (NPO) established in 2021 through the merging of NACE International (founded in 1943, headquartered in Texas, USA) and SSPC-The Society for Protective Coatings (founded in 1950, headquartered in Pennsylvania, USA). There are over 54,000 individual members in 130 countries and regions worldwide.

On March 6 (Wed), 2024, an award ceremony was held during the “AMPP Annual Conference & Expo.,” which is the annual general assembly for the AMPP, in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.

This award was presented in recognition of contributions to the advancement of the industry through the development of high performance materials and applied technologies related to corrosion control in the field of energy, including petroleum and gas development, as well as significant contributions over many years through the operation of the testing method establishment committees and academic conferences.

AMPP’s “Fellow Honor Award” was established for consultants to the association to further develop the extensive relationships of the cross-industry network from the perspective of technical and specialized leaders. This is an extremely honorable award, which has been presented to notable university professors, researchers from independent research institutes, and major material engineers from major oil companies in the past.
