Hitachi Powdered Metals (USA) Inc., a subsidiary of Japan’s Hitachi Powdered Metals Co. Ltd., plans to invest approximately $38 million to expand its powdered-metal operations in Greensburg, Ind. The expansion, which will create up to 60 jobs by 2014, includes a 128,000-square-foot plant on its existing site in Decatur County. The new facility, scheduled to open in August 2013, will house heat-treating equipment, sintering furnaces, compacting presses and a machining center. Hitachi Powdered Metals makes automotive components, including gears, sprockets and valve guides.
