Tenova Inc. (USA) has recently been contracted by Charter Steel – a leading American supplier of carbon and alloy steel bar, rod and wire products – to design and supply a Consteel system to integrate with their existing EAF at its Saukville, Wisconsin works.
The Consteel system will feature the latest design and automation technology associated with the proven continuous scrap preheating and feeding technology to the EAF. The Consteel design for Charter Steel utilizes a “double-conveyor feed system” to overcome the challenges of the existing melt shop layout. The double-conveyor system allows the Consteel to be economically installed into almost any type of existing melt shop layout. The Consteel system, as proven in 6 other US installations and 51 other installations worldwide, increases steelmaking productivity and reduces energy consumption. Installation of the Charter’s Consteel is scheduled for the second half of 2018.
