ITPS Asia had received the good response from the thermprocess industry in India. The eminent personalities of advisory board and Speakers Panel had contributed toward the success of the ITPS Asia. Over the period of two days, the event was attended by 70 delegates. The speakers have acknowledged the new trends and developments in the thermprocess industry by sharing their in-depth experience and knowledge of their respective sector. The participants had obtained exclusive insights of thermprocess technology and the specific requirements of the growing Asian market at ITPS Asia in Mumbai. The sponsors – Lakshmi Vacuum Technologies, Sandvik Materials Technology and SMS Elotherm Gmbh – have shown their support. The ITPS Asia served a platform to focus about the company growth and new technological developments in their production capacity as well as the product showcase platform. Lakshmi Vacuums Technologies and Sandvik Materials Technology showcased their products and production technology at the ITPS-ASIA Pavilion in Hall 1 Bombay Exhibition Centre along with the Metal Fairs (Wire & Cable India, Tube India International and Metallurgy India, 28-30 October, 2014).
The two-day conference started with a keynote presentation by Mr. Rene Brander, President of the European Committee of Industrial Furnace and Heating Equipment Associations (CECOF) in Brussels. Followed by Dr. Andreas Seitzer, Managing director of the SMS Elotherm, speaking on the Induction reheating and reducing the CO2 footprint in integrated mills.
Dr. Kumar Iyer discussed the technological innovations at JSW to reduce losses and eliminate power consumption at various units. The presentation focused on the efforts made at JSW in reducing Energy footprint and how to lower the energy consumption despite working with inferior grade iron ore. Dr. Kumar Iyer has provided a window to the audience to understand about newer approaches to energy management. Mr. Subhrangsu Chattopadhyay from Sandvik Materials Technology has presented the paper on State of the art technology in Heating System and Heat treatment applications. His presentation focused on how to save cost and improve product quality and productivity. Heating systems, energy savings insulations, furnace rollers to improve product quality and cost savings, radiant tube for electrical and gas fired furnaces in heat treatment was the key point of his presentation. The presentation on energy optimization technologies for carbon & stainless steel annealing furnaces was presented by Mr. Ganesh Patange from Drever International S.A. He has given brief description about the different energy optimization technologies for furnace.
Through his paper, Mr. Jitendra Singh from ISC Udyog, channeled our focus to the magnificent growth of steel making by electric induction furnaces in India. He showcased the electric induction furnaces in steel industry and its growth, technological development and what are the challenges in continuous casting machines and direct charging.
Dr. Franz Beneke, Managing Director of Research Association of Industrial Furnace Manufacturers (FOGI) discussed the way Europe is going in energy efficiency for industrial thermoprocess equipment. Mr. Satwata Chaudhuri described the state of art for burners in reheating and heat treatment technologies for a competitive and sustainable global steel & aluminium industry. The presentation aims at energy efficiency and technologies that can be implemented in steel & aluminium industry.
Mr. Gopalan from Lakshmi Vacuum Heat Treaters Ltd. discussed the developments in vacuum thermal process & case hardening process in India. The use of these metal-making processes in modern, efficiently functioning production systems greatly reduces costs. He also outlined the development in vacuum metallurgy and the advantage of vacuum furnace in the metal. Mr. Vishwas Kale from Vijayesh Instruments Pvt. Ltd. defined why energy saving is very important and how it can be achieved by instrumentation and process control. Mr. Janusz Kowalewski, Managing Director Ald Dynatech Furnaces, discuused the new trends in heat treatment and how it will influence indian heat treatment industry.
The ITPS Asia turned to be a great success. The delegates found the conference was very effective and it provided the good networking opportunities. The ITPS conference is part of the established Bright World of Metals event that will be inviting the industry community to come to Düsseldorf for its trade fairs GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS and NEWCAST from 16–20 June 2015.
