Asia Steel Forum 2016 to augment iMT Taiwan

International Metal Technology Taiwan Exhibition and Conference (iMT Taiwan) has welcomed the esteemed Asia Steel Forum (ASF), Asia’s largest and most important steel event, which will take place concurrently alongside the exhibition this year. Returning for its 7th edition, ASF is organized by four organizations from China, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, namely Mysteel, Steel&Steel, Japan Metal Daily, and Steelnet.

ASF is set to bring together some 300 reputable steel companies from countries including Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand over its three-day event from 6–8 December 2016. Based on the theme "New Era! New Solution! Network with Steel Industry of Asia", ASF will bring greater spotlight on various hot issues and critical perspectives surrounding the metal market movements, technological developments and policy impacts.
“Holding ASF alongside iMT Taiwan shows the importance of synergizing industry knowledge and technological expertise to move the metal industry forward,” said Gerd Keim, President of Kaigo Co.,Ltd. At the Forum, industry observers, research academics and corporate leaders will guide dialogues emphasizing greater cooperation by metal businesses in Asia. According to World Steel Association’s report in January 2016, Asia’s annual production of crude steel in 2015 reached 1,113.8 Mt. This accounts close to 70 % of the world’s crude steel production, and steel consumption. As such, metal businesses in Asia are driven to improve intra-industry cooperation and information exchange to spur further technological advancements.
Emphasizing the importance of industry network, Keim pointed out that, “for metal businesses, success and sustainable growth hinges on being a dynamic international industry player that balances pressures of globalizing operations while maintaining competitive advantage. Despite this, businesses must be prepared to partner with fellow industry leaders who have shared objectives in pushing for positive changes in Asia’s dynamic metal industry landscape.”
With ASF on board, iMT Taiwan is set to host over 6,000 trade buyers and industry professionals from 6–8 December 2016 at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Centre. The 2nd edition of iMT Taiwan will feature 13 product categories. Covering the complete metal manufacturing supply chain, trade visitors will find a quality selection of precision manufacturing products. The wide product offerings range from Material Science and Engineering, Heat Technology, Metallurgy, Foundry, Forging, Molding, Coating, Joint and Cut Technology, Metal Forming Technology, Tube Machinery and Equipment, Wire Machinery and Equipment, Semi-finished and Finished Products, and Turnkey Equipment.
In the effort to attract high-level decision-makers, procurement specialists and influential trade buyers, iMT Taiwan offers a range of visitor benefits including an accommodation subsidy programme supported by the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT). Subjected to specific eligibility requirements, the subsidy programme is limited and available on a first-come-first serve basis. The subsidy totals NT-$ 15,000 (around US-$ 460), covering expenses for a maximum of four nights accommodation during buyer’s procurement trip to iMT Taiwan. Foreign visitors from emerging markets and whose company has a minimum annual sales revenue of US-$ 0.1 mio. within the last three years can optimize this incentive. For corporate buyers from developed countries, their company is required to have minimum annual sales revenue of US-$ 0.3 mio. within the the last three years to benefit from the subsidy programme.
Over the three-day exhibition, professional buyers and trade professionals will experience a meaningful visit by using exclusive business matchmaking service to tie up directly with targeted exhibitors. In order to widen their network and learn from industry experts, visitors can also take part in the Asia Steel Forum that explores topics on business potential, new technological developments and market outlook surrounding Taiwan’s and the global metal markets.
