December 2023 | Habaş Group, a key player in the industry, has partnered with Danieli to enhance its presence in the flat-products sector. The tin-plate complex, situated in Aliağa near Izmir, will address the burgeoning demands of the packaging industry and the increasing need for cold-rolled and annealed thin sheets.

The facility, with a capacity of 900,000 tons per year, will produce a diverse range of steel grades, including T1 to T4 and DR7 to DR10. Among its offerings are 250,000 tons of tinplate, 150,000 tons of thin, continuous annealed cold-rolled coil, and 500,000 tons of semi-finished products. The complex comprises four crucial process areas: electrolytic cleaning, cold rolling and tempering, electrolytic tinning, and continuous annealing.

Ensuring environmental sustainability, the cleaning section will maintain a sealed environment to prevent emissions. The two-stand DCR temper mill, equipped with state-of-the-art features, will produce material with high-quality properties and surface roughness.

The dual-purpose electrolytic-tinning line will yield tinplate and tin-free steel products, while the continuous annealing line, featuring a powerful radiant-tube furnace and dedicated cleaning and DCR-Double Cold Reduction mill, will ensure the production of high-grade tinplate and cold-rolled strip.

Scheduled to commence operations from late 2024, the complex will utilize Danieli Automation electrical equipment and control systems, marking a significant step towards technological advancement in the industry.

70 years of CERN: Vacuum Technology from Pfeiffer Vacuum Has Enabled Experiments since The Beginning

Reliable, high-performance vacuum technology has been the basis of the experiments and development projects at CERN from the very beginning. In 1958, Pfeiffer Vacuum revolutionized the research institution’s experiments by inventing the first turbomolecular pump. Since then, vacuum solutions from Pfeiffer Vacuum have paved the way for CERN’s groundbreaking findings and are also employed in the famous Large Hadron Collider (LHC) – the world’s most powerful particle accelerator.
