Philippe Darmayan appointed President of ArcelorMittal France

Philippe Darmayan has been appointed as Chairman of ArcelorMittal France. Hervé Bourrier retains his role as CEO of ArcelorMittal France. Darmayan is also Chairman of the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), President of the French Steel Federation (FFA) and co-founder of A3M, the Ores, Minerals & Metals Alliance.

Philippe Darmayan has been appointed as Chairman of ArcelorMittal France. Hervé Bourrier retains his role as CEO of ArcelorMittal France. Darmayan is also Chairman of the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), President of the French Steel Federation (FFA) and co-founder of A3M, the Ores, Minerals & Metals Alliance.

Darmayan is a graduate of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC). He has spent his entire career in the metallurgical sector (nuclear fuel, aluminium, carbon steels and stainless steels). He began his career in the Pechiney Group, where he occupied plant or business management roles, in particular the management of the Group's Aerospace business. From 2011 to 2014, he was CEO of APERAM, one of the world's leading stainless steel producers. Previously, he was executive vice-president in charge of ArcelorMittal’s distribution business and a member of the Group’s Management Committee.

Darmayan is also Chairman of the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), President of the French Steel Federation (FFA) and co-founder of A3M, the Ores, Minerals & Metals Alliance.

Hervé Bourrier is a graduate of the Bordeaux Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie et de Physique and has an MBA from Cedep/Insead. He began his career in 1987 as an engineer in the automotive sector. In 1989, he joined the Rhône-Poulenc group and held various positions in product development, marketing, sales and strategy. In 2000, he joined Pechiney as Director of a profit centre. He then held various international roles in finance and project management. In 2006, he was appointed Director of Governmental Affairs for Alcan group in France following the acquisition of Pechiney. In 2008, he left the Alcan group, which had become Rio Tinto, to join the ArcelorMittal group. He was appointed CEO of ArcelorMittal France in 2009.

Bourrier is President of the UIR (Union of Recycling Industries) and Vice-President of the EPE (Enterprise for the Environment) Environmental Committee.
