Swiss Steel Holding AG, a global leader in specialty long steel, today announces nominations for election to the Board of Directors.
Alexander Gut, Karl Haider and Martin Lindqvist will be proposed as new members of the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting on May 23, 2024. Jens Alder will be nominated as president for the time being until Martin Lindqvist joins, after which the latter will be nominated as president. Emese Weissenbacher is not running for re-election. The Board of Directors is also proposing a share split in order to increase the nominal value per share.
The Board of Directors appointed Martin Lindqvist and Dr. Karl Haider as independent members of the Board of Directors and Dr. Alexander Gut was nominated as a representative of BigPoint Holding AG for election at the ordinary general meeting on May 23, 2024. Martin Lindqvist is expected to join the Board of Directors as a member from October 1, 2024 at the latest.
Jens Alder as Chairman of the Board of Directors
Jens Alder is nominated as Chairman of the Board of Directors for a term of office until Martin Lindqvist takes over as Chairman of the Board of Directors, at the latest until the end of the next ordinary general meeting. After his entry, no later than October 1, 2024, Martin Lindqvist will be nominated as Chairman of the Board of Directors for a term of office until the next Annual General Meeting.
Alexander Gut as a financial expert
Alexander Gut is a financial expert with extensive experience, which he has acquired in numerous board mandates. He is currently managing partner and founder of Gut Corporate Finance AG, an independent corporate finance consulting firm. Before that, he worked as a member of the management team at KPMG Zurich and as a partner at Ernst & Young Zurich. He began his career at KPMG in Zurich and London. Alexander Gut was a member of the board of directors of renowned companies such as Holcim and Credit Suisse Group. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Adecco Group. Alexander Gut holds a doctorate (Dr. oec publ) in business administration from the University of Zurich, Switzerland.
Karl Haider with industrial expertise
Karl Haider is a recognized industry expert and highly qualified manager with extensive experience from his work in large international industrial groups. As the current Chief Executive Officer of Semperit Holding AG in Austria, he brings extensive experience and strategic acumen. Karl previously served on the board of Tata Steel Europe as Chief Commercial Officer and Director Operations Downstream and before that on the board of the High Performance Metals Division of the voestalpine Group as Chief Commercial Officer. His path began as a sales manager at Rehau, where he deepened his sales experience. Karl Haider holds a doctorate in natural sciences and a master’s degree in technical chemistry and business administration, both from the Johannes Kepler University Linz in Austria.
Martin Lindqvist
Martin Lindqvist is an accomplished industrial professional and financial expert with over 25 years of experience in the steel industry. Martin Lindqvist has resigned from his position as President and CEO of SSAB. He was instrumental in SSAB’s decision to convert the entire Nordic production system to fossil-free production. During his time at SSAB, Martin Lindqvist held various business unit management positions. Before joining SSAB, he held key positions at renowned companies such as NCC and Outokumpu Copper Strip. Martin Lindqvist is currently a member of the board of directors of SCA, Europe’s largest private forestry holding company. He was also previously a member of the Board of Directors of INDUTRADE. Martin Lindqvist holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Uppsala University in Sweden.
