Tata Steel Nederland has launched Zeremis® Delivered, an option for customers who want to receive their steel using lower-emission means of transport. The service enables customers to reduce their so-called Scope 3 emissions as well as other emissions associated with steel transport. Initially, Zeremis Delivered will be available to customers located within 300 kilometers of Tata Steel locations in the Netherlands and Belgium. This means that Zeremis® Delivered is also available to customers in Germany.

“In addition to our major projects such as the switch to the production of green steel, we are also working in other areas to become a more sustainably operating steel company,” explains Hans van den Berg, CEO of Tata Steel Nederland. “Our pursuit of sustainability throughout the entire logistics chain holds great potential. Zeremis Delivered is suitable for customers who want to decarbonize their entire value chain, but also for customers who are just beginning their sustainability efforts and are prioritizing green transport before switching to Zeremis Carbon Lite, our lower carbon steel.”

Delivery program to achieve emissions targets

With Zeremis Delivered, Tata Steel aims to support its customers in achieving their Scope 3 emissions targets. In the initial phase, customers within a radius of up to 300 kilometers can be delivered by truck using HVO100. This leads to CO2 savings of up to 90 percent compared to conventional fossil fuel. Zeremis Delivered will be gradually developed to offer solutions for longer distances and other transport routes, including rail, inland and sea shipping. To this end, the company works with logistics partners and knowledge centers to test innovative solutions for all modalities. This includes testing electric trucks to gain commercial and operational experience in preparation for fully electrifying all truck transport as quickly as possible.

One of many sustainability solutions

With the launch of Zeremis Delivered, Tata Steel expands its offering of sustainability solutions for its customers. Last year, the company introduced Zeremis Carbon Lite, steel with an assigned carbon footprint reduction of up to 90%. This is becoming increasingly popular with customers in various industries, including automotive, construction and new mobility sectors. Tata Steel is already offering its customers the opportunity to secure Zeremis green steel from the new steel production route that the company plans to deploy in 2030.
