Recently, Chinese steel producer Tangshan Donghua Iron and Steel Enterprise Group placed an order with Primetals Technologies to supply a new 3-strand continuous slab caster for its plant in Tangshan, Hebei province, China. Startup is expected for December 2022.
The caster features a segment roller drive design and center strand protection shields. It is the first 3-strand slab casting solution in the world. This caster will allow higher capacity with the same space requirement for casting in the steel mill and thus increased product capacity.
