Hydro invests 45 million euros in the Nenzing aluminium extrusion plant

09.08.2021. The Nenzing aluminium extrusion plant is one of the best performing plants within Hydro Extrusions in Europe. A decision to invest 45 million € will increase capacity by 30 %. It also creates additional jobs at the plant.

Sustainability

The plant is also leading in the sustainability area. Through life-cycle analysis it has demonstrated that the CO2 emissions in the extrusion process are only one-seventh the European average. This positions the plant as a reference for climate-conscious customers.

Nenzing is preparing for further growth in the coming years. The aluminium plant is responding to an increased demand in the region by adding a fourth extrusion line and expanding mechanical processing capabilities.

“Adding a fourth extrusion line to the plant will make us one of the most modern extrusion facilities in Europe and increase our capacity by 30 %,” says Manfred Rotschne, Managing Director in Nenzing.

New extrusion line will be operational during spring 2023

A new and fully automated raw metal warehouse and office space as well as the apprentice training hub will also be integrated into the new building. The construction work will start in the beginning of 2022. The new extrusion line will be operational during spring 2023.

With currently over 400 employees, the Nenzing extrusion plant currently serves more than 1,000 customers, mainly in German-speaking countries. The new press will also create additional jobs at the plant.

“The high level of innovation in Nenzing and our demonstrated low carbon footprint, will allow us to serve new and existing customers with a broader portfolio of sustainable and innovative solutions,” concludes Rotschne.
