12.05.2021. ArcelorMittal has bought the company Dortmunder Blankstahl as part of a transferring restructuring process. All jobs in the wire processing company will be retained.
“With the takeover, we are securing the future of Dortmunder Blankstahl, which will become ArcelorMittal Dortmund. The bright steel production complements our portfolio in wire processing – thus we cover an additional part of the value chain for our Wire Solutions division”, comments Lutz Bandusch, Vice President ArcelorMittal Europe – Long Products.
The medium-sized company has been an established manufacturer of bright steel and bright steel products for over 45 years and manufactures in various dimensions and qualities on a total production area of 70,000 m². Hot-rolled steel wires are processed into bars and rods on nine combined drawing lines with integrated surface testing. The main customers are automotive suppliers. Dortmunder Blankstahl GmbH was previously part of the Ruhrstahl group and employs 82 people. The company will be integrated into the Group as ArcelorMittal Dortmund.
