Third edition of standard work: Inductive Melting and Holding

“Induction technology is a living, continuously developing entity”. This was the leitmotif even for the foreword to the first edition, published in 2009, of this specialist title for engineers, technicians and practitioners in industrial melting shops and foundries. It is, therefore, only logical that Vulkan-Verlag presents the 3rd edition of this work by Dr. Erwin Dötsch, following the broad acclaim accorded the – now out of print – 2nd edition of 2013.

von | 30.03.20

The basic concept remains unchanged: an introductory examination of the fundamentals of the induction process, a description of system hardware and a discussion of melting technology are followed by detailed concentration on the metallurgical process-engineering of induction facilities for melting, temperature maintenance and casting. Particular attention is devoted, among the developments of the past five years, to the intricacies of the ongoing CO2 controversy and to the recovery and utilisation of waste heat.
Dr. Erwin Dötsch has gathered an unmatched and longstanding expertise in the field of inductive melting and holding, therefore providing the readers with expert knowledge to reflect the latest state of the art.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernard Nacke, Institute of Electrotechnology at Leibniz University of Hannover:
“In this third edition, the author has expanded the available expert knowledge in the field of inductive melting and holding to reflect the latest state of the art. This book, too, will without doubt provide excellent support for numerous specialists in their daily activities at universities and colleges, in Research & Development, and in practical application.”
