Silsan A.Ş. based in the Turkish town of Adana is a well-established manufacturer of cylinder liners. For their production processes, the company was in search of a solution for melting in modern medium-frequency melting furnaces and pouring in a pouring furnace via an intermediate ladle into the centrifugal casting machine – and found their solution in ABP Induction.
The coherent concept of the interaction of the plant components for melting and casting as well as the established network in Turkey supported the company’s decision to opt for Dortmund-based ABP. In Turkey, ABP maintains a partnership with INTEK Ltd. as a service facility. The complete system to be installed at Silsan once again serves as an outstanding reference for ABP Induction, especially for small melting furnaces in the Eurasian region.
The customer was impressed with ABP’s overall concept to reduce energy consumption in the plant. The main focus was on the opportunities for automation and energy savings by using Prodapt® and PLC in the melting system. The Prodapt melt processor calculates energy requirements based on furnace content and automatically controls the energy supply for the melting and holding operation. Further arguments in favor of their decision to work with ABP were the safety devices for operation and the safety concept of the melting system. The OCC casting furnace is supplied via the proven mains frequency technology.
