The primary focus is on the exchange of expert knowledge – at booths, in special exhibition areas and pavilions, and through the conference programme of the Die Casting Conference and the SpeakersCorner. Euroguss 2020 is also offering a high-calibre supporting programme that includes the “Additive Manufacturing” and “Surface Technology” Pavilions, the special show “Research for Knowledge” and the EUROGUSS Talent Award.
“I always look forward to seeing what’s new at Euroguss. For almost 25 years, it has been the number-one gathering place when it comes to die casting. We’ll grow by about 17 percent in 2020,” says Christopher Boss, Director and International Product Manager of Euroguss. “All major die-casting foundries and their suppliers will once again be coming together at the Nuremberg exhibition centre. That makes me very happy and says a lot about the importance of Euroguss for the die-casting industry – especially when you consider the current economic situation, and particularly that of the main customer, the automotive industry.”
High internationality of exhibitors
More than 55 % of the over 750 exhibitors are international and come from a total of 36 countries. In addition to Germany, the top exhibitor countries are mainly European, including Italy, Turkey, Spain, Austria and Switzerland.
Die casting foundries make up the largest exhibitor group at around 39 %. The booths of the remaining exhibitors feature die-casting technologies such as machines, moulds and accessories, peripheral devices, furnaces, alloys, parting agents and operating materials. These are supplemented by offerings for the post-treatment of cast parts, quality assurance, control and drive technology, rapid prototyping, and software.
Die Casting Conference in NCC Ost
In addition to the trade fair, the Die Casting Conference is traditionally held in the St. Petersburg Room in NCC Ost. Alongside standard topics like developments in materials and tooling technologies, the event will also explore industry trends such as electromobility, Industry 4.0 and additive manufacturing. High-calibre industry speakers and other die-casting experts will come together to discuss the latest developments. Lectures will be given in German or English, with simultaneous interpretation provided for all. The Die Casting Conference is co-organised by the Verband Deutscher Druckgießereien (VDD – Association of German Die Casting Foundries) and the Deutsche Gießerei-Industrie (BDG – Germany Foundry Association).
The SpeakersCorner focuses on current industry topics. In cooperation with various partners, valuable topics will be covered, including additive manufacturing applications in die casting as well as surface treatment and cleaning. On Thursday from 10:00 to 11:30, there will be a panel discussion on “Foundry 4.0 – Connectivity and Data Transfer”.
And the winner is? – EUROGUSS Talent Award
The Euroguss Talent Award will be conferred for the first time in 2020. The prize recognises outstanding theses relating to die casting. A total of 16 theses from four countries were submitted.
The international jury of experts has decided to announce the winners of the first Euroguss Talent Award on the first day of the fair, 14 January 2020, at 13:30 at the SpeakersCorner in Hall 8. The winners will then have an opportunity to present the results of their work and its practical application.
Special show “Research for Knowledge”
In Hall 9, six German research institutes and universities will provide insights into their current research areas and services, as well as presenting their training and continuing education opportunities. Participants in the special show include the Dingolfing Technology Centre, the Austrian Foundry Institute, the University of Kassel (Department of Foundry Technology) and Aalen University.
“Surface Technology” Pavilion in Hall 9
Booth 9-257 in Hall 9 is all about surface technology. Exhibitors at the Surface Technology Pavilion will be presenting various solutions for the post-processing of cast parts. The many options for the surface treatment and post-processing of die-cast parts range from deburring, to grinding, cleaning and polishing, all the way to finishing.
In addition to the special exhibition area, a series of lectures on surface technology will also be held on Wednesday, 15 January 2020, starting at 13:00 at the SpeakersCorner in Hall 8, Booth 8-524.
“Additive Manufacturing” Pavilion in Hall 8
Additive Manufacturing is also an important topic in the die-casting industry. This is why Euroguss 2020 is featuring an Additive Manufacturing Pavilion for the first time. “Additive Manufacturing will not only be the theme of the Pavilion, but will also be presented at many exhibition booths and in many lectures,” explains Christopher Boss. This will include the SpeakersCorner, where a lecture series specifically about 3D printing will be held in cooperation with various partners. The presentations will take place on Wednesday, 15 January 2020, beginning at 9:30 at the SpeakersCorner (Hall 8, Booth 8-524).
Innovative young companies debut at the trade fair
At the “Innovation made in Germany” Pavilion in Hall 7, eight young, innovative, German companies will be presenting their innovations and top products. The focus will be on startups and newcomers to the die-casting industry, thus giving these companies an opportunity to take their first steps and build up their industry network. This pavilion is being featured at Euroguss 2020 for the first time and is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). It is already fully booked for its debut.
Italian, Spanish and Czech Pavilions
Once again, Euroguss 2020 will be featuring national pavilions. The Italian Pavilion in Hall 7, Booth 7-555, was organized in cooperation with the Italian Trade Agency ICE and the Association of Italian Foundry Suppliers (Amafond).
EUROGUSS participants will find an overview of the development of the Czech die-casting industry in Hall 9, Booth 9-350. Ten companies, as well as the Czech Foundry Association, will be introducing themselves to the trade public.
The Spanish Casting Exporters’ Association FUNDIGEX and several of its members have organized a Spanish Pavilion in Hall 7.
