The entire value-added chain will be there, ranging from classic ceramics to industrial ceramics to technical ceramics to powder metallurgy. In addition, visitors may look forward to a comprehensive conference programme and the recently established “Additive Manufacturing” special area. In terms of contents, this year’s trade show will be focusing on digitization and the tapping of new industrial applications for ceramics and powder metallurgy.
Igor Palka, Exhibition Director of Ceramitec, is extremely satisfied with the preparations: “There is no other trade show of the ceramics industry where exhibitors and visitors encounter such an international audience. More than 60 % of our exhibitors come from abroad. As at previous editions, a few countries will be newcomers at Ceramitec. Thus, apart from Lithuania, Israel as a high-tech location will take part for the first time through XJet, a supplier for additive manufacturing processes with metal and ceramics.” In addition, numerous international market leaders will present themselves at the trade show again. During the run-up to the trade show, the industry looks into the future with optimism. This can be gathered from the figures resulting from the Ceramitec industry barometer for which more the 600 specialists and executives from the industry were surveyed.
96 % of the companies worldwide are planning to increase their investments further in the coming 12 months or at least to keep them at the same level. In particular, this applies to the fields of production & manufacturing and research & development, which is in line with the fact that nearly 60 % of the companies rate their commitment to research & development as good or even very good. In Germany, this holds true for even 76 % of the suppliers. Accordingly, visitors may look forward to a great number of innovations: “Ceramics are materials that have existed for thousands of years. At Ceramitec 2018, visitors will experience how future-oriented the industry is at the same time. There are more and more application fields ranging from cars and smartphones to aerospace or the deep sea”, comments Igor Palka.
Just as previous editions, Ceramitec 2018 will be accompanied by a comprehensive conference programme. Within the framework of various information days (Powder Metallurgy Day, Heavy Clay Day, Technical Ceramics Day), experts from industry and science will report on new developments and technologies in the Forum in Hall A5. On the CareerDay, at the last day of the trade show, Ceramitec will bring talents together with attractive employers. Moreover, the “Additive Manufacturing” special area will have its premiere in Hall B6. Besides a display of innovative exhibits fabricated through additive manufacturing processes, there will be a separate lecture programme revolving around issues regarding ceramics and additive manufacturing.
The 93rd Annual Meeting of the German Ceramic Society (DKG) with the Symposium on High-Performance Ceramics by the DKG and the German Materials Society DGM will take place simultaneously with the trade show. Whereas the trade show and the Ceramitec conference programme will primarily offer solutions to present-day challenges, the lectures of the DKG will point the way to the future. Furthermore, Analytica, the International Trade Fair for Laboratory Technology, Analysis and Biotechnology, will take place in parallel with Ceramitec. The segments of analytics, quality control and laboratory technology, in particular, will offer points of reference for the ceramics industry.
