Work on modernizing and decarbonizing production continues. The new electric arc furnace is being installed in Oxelösund, and following the conclusion of the legal process concerning the power line in the second quarter, construction can now proceed. Production start remains scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.
The Luleå project is on schedule and within budget; groundwork has resumed after temporary pauses taken to ensure workplace safety, while steel production at the site continues without disruption.
New EU trade measures aimed at protecting the bloc’s steel sector from global overcapacity took effect on July 1, 2026. SSAB expects these measures to improve the supply-demand balance in the European market going forward.
For the third quarter, the company anticipates a seasonal slowdown in demand and plans maintenance work across all steel divisions. Previously implemented price increases are expected to push prices somewhat higher in Q3.
