The Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) has selected Danieli as its technology partner for a new aluminum foil rolling plant, to be installed within the Tema Integrated Industrial Park in the Tema Heavy Industrial Zone, Ghana.
The project follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between GIADEC and Danieli and represents a significant step toward the development of an integrated aluminum value chain in the country.
The new plant is designed to produce between 40,000 and 45,000 tpy of value-added aluminum foil products for packaging, pharmaceutical, food service and industrial applications, supporting both domestic demand and export markets.
The investment also includes a Centre of Excellence dedicated to technical training, innovation and advanced aluminum-processing technologies. This facility will support workforce development, technology transfer and industrial know-how for the growing aluminum sector in the region.
The new foil plant and Centre of Excellence is expected to strengthen Ghana’s aluminum industry by increasing domestic value addition, creating skilled employment opportunities and supporting the development of downstream manufacturing activities.
Further engineering activities and the project implementation schedule will be defined during the subsequent phases of the cooperation.
