Hardness tester for medium-hard to hard materials

The manufacturer of dimensional measuring instruments Mitutoyo launches a new generation of the Rockwell hardness tester HR-500 for steel, aluminium, brass and other medium-hard to hard metal materials, as well as plastics according to international standards. It offers higher functionality and performance than most devices on the market.

The hardness testers by Mitutoyo are popular for their outstanding quality, their high precision and their ease of use. Now the Japanese manufacturer replaces the existing Rockwell top model HR-500 by a newly developed successor bearing the name of its fancied predecessor.
The new HR-500 boasts a wealth of functionality and offers additional ease of use. The test force can be chosen up to 187.5 kg, with motorized and sensor-controlled application. Up to ten test procedures can be pre-configured and saved for ultra-quick execution by one touch of a button. This saves time and money. The new generation offers the opportunity to save more than 10,000 test results internally. 16 languages are at the worker’s disposal to choose from.
However, the new HR-500 is not only capable of conducting Rockwell measurements. It also enables serial measurements as well as Brinell depth measurings (HBD) and Brinell indentations complying with the latest standard. Plus, with the optional Jominy Table, the HR-500 user can even execute end quench tests. A slim shape indenter arm can reach interior and exterior test spots. Inside testing can optionally be conducted at diameters of 22 mm or larger – the best value currently on the market.
All functions are controlled via a large, intuitive colour touchscreen sorted by tabs to choose from. Its menu is structured analogously to those of the rest of the Mitutoyo Vickers and Micro Vickers hardness testers. The measuring worker can choose between four different skins that display those parameters required for the currently conducted measurement. A statistics skin shows, amongst others, average values and range, a simplified skin supports serial measurements. Test results and a graphical view can be exported to IT systems by means of a USB stick.
A comprehensive range of accessories like various anvils, round tables and many more items helps to enhance functionality and make the HR-500 one of the most versatile hardness testers on the market.
