SECO/WARWICK is supplying a large Vector vacuum furnace to a Japanese metal treatment company to support the production of high-quality gas turbine components.

The equipment is being delivered to a company specialising in the heat treatment of metals and the production of precision components for use in the energy, medical, automotive, and machinery industries. SECO/WARWICK is executing the contract in cooperation with its Japanese vacuum segment trading partner.

At the heart of the vacuum system is a powerful setup comprising two mechanical pumps (a Roots pump and a diffusion pump), supported by a holding pump. This enables high operating vacuum and very clean heat treatment processes, such as annealing, ageing and brazing. The partial pressure system protects the surface of the batch from sublimation of alloy elements and minimises the risk of contamination in the hot zone. The blower-based quenching system provides a quenching pressure of up to 6 bar absolute, which is essential for new types of blades and gas turbine components that require rapid, controlled cooling while maintaining the quality of the material structure.
