Innovation at Global Industrie 2025: the winners of the GI Awards 2025

Innovation is at the heart of the challenges of reindustrialization and sovereignty. Thus, from 11 to March 14, 2025, at Eurexpo Lyon, Global Industrie, the largest European event for the entire industrial ecosystem, will showcase all these incremental or disruptive creations that are helping to transform the industry.

The GI Awards are the culmination of this innovation spotlight and recognize the most promising advances. In 2025, nearly 100 solutions were evaluated by a jury of experts (industrialists and specialized journalists). At the end of the grand oral, held on February 18, 2025, 7 innovations were rewarded with a GI Award, and a startup was rewarded with a GI Award, “Startups.”

The awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 4 pm, on the show’s ‘Grande Scène’.

Global Industrie, a place for sourcing innovations

The largest factory in France, Global Industrie represents the multiplicity of industrial sectors and sectors. In 2025 it offers the 50,000 expected manufacturers the opportunity to source from the 2,500 exhibitors present. The latter, spread over 14 universes, will present more than 3,000 machines in operation.

In addition, at Global Industrie 2025 eighteen thematic villages, including three new ones (AI/5G and Cybersecurity; Handling, storage, logistics, and lifting; Safety and Well-being at Work (QWL)), will also report on solutions provided in sectors as diverse as the electronics industries, rubber, metal forming, mechatronics, plastics and composites, surface technologies, etc.

GI Awards 2025 Trends

The nominees for the GI Awards 2025 illustrate the major industry trends of today: automation, digitalization, energy optimization, and sustainability. Here is a summary of the main innovations by theme.

1. Automation and Robotics

The industry is moving towards more flexible and autonomous production thanks to advances in robotics and automation. In this context, Asyril presents Concept Merlin, an innovative bin-picking solution that improves the automated handling of parts thanks to advanced 3D vision. The cost-effective mobile robot ReBel Move from IGUS combines an AGV and a cobot to facilitate the automation of logistics processes. SAB Robotics offers an affordable alternative to traditional machining centers with a 6+2-axis robot, suitable for complex parts and new markets such as soft mobility.

2. Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (AI)

AI and digitalization are key in optimizing production and quality control, as evidenced by Mitsubishi Electric’s Melsoft Vixio, a visual inspection AI automating defect detection. Weld-IA, from Doptim, also uses AI to control weld quality by analyzing and optimizing FSW and laser processes. AI is also being used for industrial safety by detecting risks to workers in harsh environments in real-time, such as FastPoint ‘s SecuriSPOT.

The Seabery Pro welding simulator (Seabery) uses augmented reality to develop skills, increase efficiency and optimize performance.

3. Energy and Sustainable Production

Especially in 2025 new technologies are focused on reducing the environmental footprint and optimizing energy efficiency. Thus, Amada presents the VENTIS 3015 AJE Fiber Laser, a high-precision laser cutting machine with an advanced energy control system that reduces consumption. Wormsensing has created the Dragonfly®, an ultra-sensitive vibration sensor that improves predictive maintenance and reduces energy losses. As for Acobal, it offers intelligent anti-corrosion ICB® Film, which adapts the diffusion of its active ingredients according to the ambient humidity. The CELLO and BROTHER M300Xd1 (Degomme Boccard) solution combines advanced automation and 5-axis hybrid machining, offering optimal flexibility and precision while reducing energy consumption and costs.

4. Safety and Ergonomics

Innovations that limit risks and physical constraints enhance occupational safety and ergonomics. Euroherramientas‘ ESTIC Electronic Pulse Technology offers an industrial clamping solution that minimizes vibration and operator fatigue. FastPoint from SecuriSPOT uses a 3D vision and AI system to prevent industrial accidents. Baty France presents a manual and portable 3D measuring machine, Aberlink Fulcrum, facilitating quality controls in the workshop.

5. Innovative Materials and Manufacturing Processes

Improved materials and manufacturing processes allow for greater precision and durability of industrial parts, such as the 105 Geometry U20 insert, presented by Horn SAS, which improves chip control in the machining of small bores. The Heico-Tec Expanding Bolt, from Heico France, is an optimized assembly solution to reduce mechanical stress and improve vibration resistance. Mitutoyo will exhibit the Litematic, an ultra-precise measuring instrument dedicated to battery films, guaranteeing non-destructive quality control. With no chromatic confocal contact, the Profilo system (Marposs) offers advanced measurement technology that simplifies surface analysis for roughness and contour profiles.

6. Mobility, versatility, ease of production tools

Adapting to customization and quick tool changes, the machines contribute to the mobility of uses and the versatility of production. Thus, the AL-ROCK Mobile (Alpha Laser) is a mobile laser system designed for precise welding and repair work with a flexible and user-friendly design. The Rover 600 (Iconic), a mobile prototyping or production unit ideal for carrying out projects, also plays the modularity card. Lines Manufacturing has developed Lines Sonic, an innovative high-speed polymer additive manufacturing machine that allows the production of large parts up to 3 m on each side in series. Finally, the DTD500 electric screwdriver (Kyocera Unimerco Tools) simplifies pad changes with precise torque control and electrical power. It reduces changeover time by 48% compared to hand tools.

The Global Industry Awards recognize solutions presented at the show less than a year old. They highlight strategic innovations in automation, AI, energy optimization, and safety. These technologies improve industries’ productivity, reliability, and sustainability, thus meeting the challenges of tomorrow.

The winners of the GI Awards 2025

For innovation: FILM ICB®
The risk of corrosion increases with 55% relative humidity. The new intelligent and patented ICB® active ingredient reduces this risk by adapting to the humidity level in the air.
The diffusion of active ingredients, integrated into the film’s polymer matrix, adapts as closely as possible to the humidity level. The parts can be directly unpacked and used without additional preparation steps. The protective layer formed on the surface of the metal disappears in less than an hour without leaving any residue.
The anti-corrosion properties comply with TL Level 3 8135-0043.

For innovation: VENTIS FIBER LASER 3015 AJE
The VENTIS-AJe fiber laser is designed to cut at high speed for high productivity and reduced energy consumption. It uses the latest Locus Beam Control (LBC) beam control technology to provide a flexible solution that meets any need.
Process automation (beam alignment, glass protection, and head removal in the event of a collision) eliminates subjective manual inspection and improves cutting reliability and consistency.
In addition, the new patented Soft Joint technology, developed by Amada, optimizes the thermal effect of the laser beam that deforms the material to hold the parts in the sheet metal, eliminating any physical micro joints. This reduces the risk of the workpiece tipping and makes the cutting process more reliable.

For innovation: MERLIN CONCEPT
A leader in flexible feeding, Asyril innovates with the Merlin Concept, a bin-picking solution for parts up to 300 mm, combining 2D vision, AI, and a patented liftable smart box.
The 8 2D cameras provide a peripheral view of the crate’s contents, allowing the Merlin Concept to accurately identify the parts to be gripped, even during the robot’s movements.
Thanks to artificial intelligence, a modern and easy-to-use interface allows the system to be taught to detect the 6-dimensional orientation of a new part without having to have advanced knowledge of machine vision.
