The company’s presence at the trade show offers an opportunity to highlight the three key elements of its business development: innovation in LEAD FREE alloys, the expansion of aluminum’s applications as a substitute for brass and steel, and a production model that is increasingly aligned with the principles of the circular economy – thereby fully aligning with the key themes of the 2026 edition of the event.
Sustainability, recycling, and technological transformation represent the industry’s most significant challenges today – a path that Eural follows every day by sharing its achievements and expertise to further expand the role of aluminum in industrial applications.
The future of Aluminium is already lead-free
Eural embarked early on a research path aimed at developing lead-free materials that simultaneously meet high standards for machinability and mechanical properties. This took place long before European lawmakers mandated the phased elimination of lead in metal alloys. Specifically, the update to the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU stipulates that on 12.06.2027, the final exemption for aluminum alloys—as well as for other metals such as brass and steel—used in machining with a lead content exceeding 0.4% by weight will expire. This will definitively limit the permissible threshold to 0.1%. Directive 2000/53/EC (ELV), which will be replaced in the future by the new ELV Regulation, focuses on the automotive sector and prohibits the use of lead in end-of-life vehicles, although some exceptions remain for critical components. While these exceptions have been extended, they are being gradually reduced and are expected to expire at the end of 2027.
Eural Gnutti’s R&D efforts have resulted in the creation of the three LF by Eural alloys: 6026LF, 2033, and 2077, each of which was developed to meet the diverse requirements of the manufacturing industry.
The 6026LF LEAD FREE by EURAL alloy was developed as an alternative to the less high-performance 6082 and 6061 alloys of the 6xxx family and will replace the lead-containing 6064A alloy, which has a minimum lead content of 0.2% and will therefore no longer comply with European regulations in the future. Thanks to its outstanding mechanical properties and excellent machinability, 6026LF is particularly valued, especially in the automotive sector, with a special focus on braking systems as well as all applications that require high strength and high-quality surface finish even after hard anodizing.
The 2033 LEAD FREE alloy by EURAL was developed to deliver outstanding performance in machining on high-speed automatic lathes thanks to the production of extremely fine chips. Due to its superior mechanical properties and its ability to withstand higher pressures than the 2011 alloy, 2033 is particularly well-suited for highly specialized applications in sectors such as the automotive industry, metal forming, fastener and fastening technology, and threaded parts with reduced wall thicknesses, where optimal machinability and short production times are required. In addition, it is used in the electrical and electronics industries. In this sector, companies that traditionally use Alloy 2011 have already begun replacing it with Alloy 2033. Today, Alloy 2033 is the only solution compatible with the new RoHS restrictions on lead and has been approved by the major market players.
Finally, 2077 LEAD FREE by EURAL represents a breakthrough in the field of high-strength alloys, as it is the only alloy with superior mechanical properties that also offers excellent machinability comparable to that of the 2011 and 2033 alloys. This advantage enables the highest levels of productivity, tighter tolerances, improved surface finish, and longer tool life.
Beyond lead. Beyond brass
The growing use of high-performance aluminum alloys reinforces aluminum’s role as a key material in industrial development, helping to increase production efficiency, improve machining quality, and reduce resource consumption. The combination of low weight, high mechanical strength, excellent machinability, corrosion resistance, and high-quality surface finish makes aluminum a reliable alternative to brass in numerous precision applications, as well as to certain steel and cast materials in high-performance components. Eural Gnutti is a key player in this transformation process, which affects numerous industrial sectors: from the automotive industry and general mechanical engineering to the fields of electrical engineering, electronics, and automation, where weight reduction and increased efficiency are increasingly critical competitive factors. With more than 50 years of experience in the aluminum sector, Eural supports companies right from the earliest stages of development, assisting both those working with this material for the first time and those looking to use aluminum as a substitute for other metal alloys. Eural’s technical support extends all the way through to machine commissioning and the optimization of production processes.

Circular economy: Eural transforms scrap into value
Material innovation is part of a broader strategy in which sustainability is one of Eural’s key drivers of development. The LF alloys are also—and above all—developed using a high proportion of secondary aluminum derived from the recycling of aluminum scrap. This material is gaining particularly high strategic value in today’s extremely volatile geopolitical environment. One of Eural’s most significant achievements lies in its ability to produce high-performance alloys from various scrap sources. The company has developed processes that can optimally utilize both internal production residues from the foundry and its own extrusion operations—the so-called “run-around” process—as well as secondary material from predominantly Italian and European supply chains. The goal achieved was to keep the lead content within controlled limits, thereby expanding recycling options without compromising the performance and quality of the end product.
“We have always been convinced that innovation arises from dialogue with the market and with those who use our materials every day. In this sense, ALUMINIUM represents an important opportunity for Eural to engage in dialogue with customers, partners, and industry experts from around the world,”
explains Paola Gnutti, President of Eural, adding:
“For Eural, innovation only becomes meaningful when it is translated into concrete solutions for the market. For this reason, our experts will be on hand to discuss the industry’s challenges with trade show visitors and explore potential solutions in greater depth.”
