Reduction of an aluminium rolling ingot of thickness 600 mm in a hot reversing stand, in several passes to a transfer-barthickness of approx. 40 mm. The reduction takes place during hot rolling in a temperature range of approx. 350–550 °C. After the finishing mill, the hot-rolled final thicknesses are usually within a thickness range of between 10 mm and 2 mm.
