This 290 mm high and 180 mm wide fir-tree made of 5 mm thick sheet steel shows how contour heating works. The inductor heats the contour within 8 s up to 900 °C. The input is about 25 kW at a frequency of 90 kHz. The process is used, e. g. when hardening the blades of rotary knifes.
